Vermont Yankee Closing: Advocacy and Activism Kept Pressure on Aging Plant 

Vermont Yankee

his past month, CLF welcomed news about the closure of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant. For over a decade, CLF has been fighting to retire the aged, leaking facility as part of a its region-wide push for a move away from old, uneconomic and polluting power plants. The decision to close Vermont Yankee, a victim of unyielding legal, political, public and economic pressure, opens the door to more efficient and cleaner sources of energy throughout the region. CLF and Cool Globes Take Climate Action to a New Level

CLF’s Cool Globe now sits on Boston Common as a public reminder that we all have a role in reducing climate pollution. A lot went into creating this piece of public art, including contributions from people all over New England, and the world. Find out more about Cool Globes and how CLF turned a plain white fiberglass sphere into a magnet for climate activists.
